Well we were pleasantly surprised. After a subpar dinner last night and the typical Italian breakfast/lunch, we were craving a delicious, tradition based, homemade Sicilian meal, and we certainly found it here. Nothing was over salted, overcooked or fried. Authentic. Definitely not your typical tourist trap kind of place either. Staff was kind and friendly. We really enjoyed ourselces.
Everything was cooked to perfection. (Forgive the fact that I don't remember the exact dish titles) In photo order:
(Not pictured) - vegetarian flan - wow! I didn't know flan could be that delicious!
Eggplant Parmigiano: fresh and light. Pan seared and not too oily. Really well done.
Grilled octopus: fresh and tender, potatoes tasty and light, melon a nice refreshing touch.
Fasicile Ragu: fresh and homemade pasta. Wonderful taste from the tuna but not overbearing. Delicate balance done well.
Spaghetti alla siracusana: just like grandma used to make. Al dente, not too salty, fantastic. I was waiting for this all week and so glad this was the place I had it.
Meatballs: stuffed with cheese! So good. Not your typical meatballs with too much oil or filler. Mostly mea, so fresh and less fat than usual. Cooked perfectly.
Pistachio pudding: it was like a cross between a pudding and a Gelato. Not too sweet. Perfect way to end the meal.
All in all, a wonderful experience for our last night in siracusa.
This was by far the best meal and the best welcome we had in Sicily! We were struggling to get a table on a Friday night on the main street as we went out a bit too late, and we were started exploring the narrow street slightly of the main tourist path and we were so lucky to find this gem! I think it was the owner who looked after us, such a wonderful welcoming lady, to be fair she was so lovely, that we only ordered dessert and coffees because we wanted to stay a bit longer in the atmosphere that she created :) Food was absolutely divine - I had octopus cooked two styles - octopus was lovely and soft, and the combination with hummus worked fantastically. My husband had a calamari risotto, and we shared Crushed Cannolo D Style. Everything looked amazing and was so delicious, if it wasn't our last night in Siracuse, we'd definitely be back! There was also great choice of wine and the one we were recommended was delicious. I cannot recommend this place more highly!
One of the best meals we had in Sicily! Delicious food and great service! The owner gave us amazing tailor-made recommendations for food and wine. Overall a great experience, def recommend this place!
Outstanding fine dining!!! We were celebrating and Barbara & all the team were brilliant! Thank you! We had such an amazing experience, can't wait to go back.
The moment we walked in the atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and warm, had a nice table by the window.
The food was exceptional, inventive, fresh and delicious - grilled squid with mashed potatoe & orange / raw shrimp with necatarine & green lemon started us off in fine style - divine! Look out for the Mediterranean Pad Thai (fettuccine with basil pesto, shrimps, lemon zest, almonds & fresh chilli) the standout dish out of many we had.
Leave room for dessert - bronte (where the best pistachios come from) pistachio pudding was heavenly!
If you are a liquor fan, then you must try Amante - an exquisite elixir of mandarin & lemon punchy explosion mouth wateringly moreish!
Service was excellent, on hand to answer any food/wine queries and never rushed to order etc. Timing between courses was spot on too. They have real passion and respect for everything they do, and that shines through.
We had a lovely experience and best meal in Sicily here. The staff was extremely accommodating to us Americans and helped us navigate the menu and wine list. Highly recommend!!
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Our server Sebastiano was very good, and speaks English very well.
My wife Lisa was VERY impressed.
We shared zucchini flan, stuffed sardines w caponata, swordfish cous cous and Lisa had sea bass w Israeli salad and I had grilled sirloin w the best potatoes ever (w capers) and maybe the best tomatoes I've ever had- roasted plum tomatoes on the vine. They were billed as "fruit" (I know, technically they are)- and they tasted like fruit.
We sat outside in the alley to enjoy the lively Ortygian foot traffic (and scooters!)
If Diònoso is in your budget, you will not be disappointed.
The best restaurant in Siracuse. Friendly environment, delicious food best service with amazing Sebastian serving us and helping us choose our plates.
I wanted grilled or fried sardines. They didn’t have - giorno special was fritta Misti (shrimp, calamari, etc) for 18 euro. Photo shows portion - it was very tasty - and fried perfectly - the green salad was extremely salty - tartar sauce was lame- just mayo - with my Aqua Naturale and an expresso & coperto- bill was 25 euro - I only give a three star because it was just
overpriced.
